I know there's been some comments on here before about taking Young
People to Go Ape and some leaders saying they would not feel comfortable
with taking YP there due to them having to clip/unclip their harness.

Well, I took a group of Scouts aged 10-12 to Aerial Extreme in Milton
Keynes today - http://www.aerialextreme.co.uk . As well as being about
30% cheaper than Go Ape, they use a different sort of harness which
means the young people are clipped on to the system at all times.
Because of this, their adult: young person ratio is rather more generous
than Go Ape as well at 1:8 (or 1:4 if the adult is taking part)

Although I thought overall Go Ape had the edge in Adventureness (?),
there's not a lot between the two types of course, except for the fact I
felt that the young people were safer on Aerial Extreme as they did not
have to unclip themselves.

There is a new system which has recently been introduced to the UK market called Sky Trail. Sky Trail High Ropes Courses offer participants a taster session in high ropes activities and utilise some of the same element designs to challenge those taking part. The difference is participants are secured onto a continuous track system using puck which sits in track above their heads. The puck is attached to a lanyard which secures to the harness without the use of caribiners so there is no way for people to become detached from the safety system.

Sky Trail High Ropes Courses offer peace of mind for participants and operators and without negating the thrill and fear factor that comes from taking part in such activities. For more information check out www.innovativeleisure.co.uk/products/sky_trail_high_ropes
