I get a technical page with the following title:

"Great Success !

Seems to be okay now. I've just tried it, and (I can't really believe
this) posted a late response to a thread about selling acorns from the
Gilwell Oak.
Comes under the 'not a lot of people know that' category. Sad, sad, sad.
I must try to get out more.

Is that a comment in general? Or just a reference to their recent
downtime?

I joined -or tried to join- escouts. It promptly died.
For me, it's still dead.

It won't talk to me. When I sign in it says "wrong password"- which it
isn't. I ask for new password and it tells me that the answer I gave
to the random question was wrong, which it wasn't.

A week after emailing administrator no reply, so I guess someone
somewhere doesn't like me.

When did you register? - if it was around the 3rd then the account was
lost when the forum went down. What login name did you register -
I'll check to see if it's on the member list.

Thanks

"etheltheaadvar"

the final "k" seemed a letter too far.

I did get notification back to confirm and did all that...
I'll await your digging if I may, but have another go, I presume if
all is negative

...
About 20 years ago, I filled in a request slip for an
inter-library loan to the library at work, for a non-existent
Pythonesque book, as a bit of a joke. It wasn't supposed to be
processed, as I quite thought the Assistant Librarian, a friend
of mine, would recognise the reference. I put someone else's name
on the request slip. Somewhat unfortunately, the request was
passed on to the British Library - from whence it was returned,
endorsed "No publication found".

The person who was named on my request was called to account for
why he was wasting the librarian's time, at which point I
confessed. A few weeks later, I received a spiral-bound copy of a
children's book, all about an Aardvark, but with a modified cover
such that the title was now "Ethel The Aardvark (Goes Quantity
Surveying)" :-)

I can't find any member called "etheltheaadvar" so I guess they were
deleted when the forum went down, as some posts were lost as well. The
notification would have sent, but then after that the posts/members
were lost.

Re-register and I'll keep a look out for ethel to approve.

I can't access it either, but then I don't get a lunch break so it not an
