Can anyone tell me what "Scout Mate" is?

I have seen references in various documents, but no-one can tell me
what it is. A search on ScoutBase reveals nowt!

Is it another (doomed to failure!) attempt at membership software?

John.
I think it's specific to Kent Scout Council.

There is an alternative to ScoutCount that works, if you are interested: -
www.warkcom.net/lspascouts select "database" from the front page.

It's written in MS Access and is available in Office97, 2000 (XP) or stand
alone
versions.

Scoutmate is working quite well. I have only given out one so are but there

The name was chosen by YP after teh CC asked them for a new alternative to
Buddy badge and one of them said whats buddy? The CC explaied an the YP said

But perhaps there should be a gold badge for introducing a leader... <g>

It might work in Beavers, Cubs and Very bottom of the Scout Troop, but I
have just suggested it to my Explorers and the replies were unprintable!
Something about Scouting's street-cred?

Mine don't see it differently to any other badge. 9 of my 29 didn't go
through cubs and already my SPL got a sulk because its not retrospective and
he introduced 2 others.

Hi Jim

Although a Kent initiative Scoutmate can be used to grow Scouting anywhere
and we are more than happy to assist any area do just that.

Badges, flyers and support CD's have been sent all over the Country to
Counties requesting them . They have also gone outside the County to British
Scouts Western Europe.

Scoutmate is an flexible and supported scheme (developed from the buddy
badge) (what's a buddy our Cubs asked) and giving Beavers, Cubs, Scout
,Explorers,..... the opportunity to grow their sections with like minded
Young People. They can also gain more than just one.

Currently over 2000 badges have been sent out around the County and within
Kent.

If you think it is for you have a look at the Kent Webb site
kentscouts.org.uk or email Kent County office ***@globalnet.co.uk.

Good Luck, Good Scouting.
