When I was a Scout, back in 1992, I camped at a lovely secluded site
in Dorset called Bowling Green Wood. Does anyone know if it still
exists, as I can't seem to find it on any Scout campsite listings?

Whilst I cannot answer your question - I can say that there are quite a few
campsites that do not advertise themselves, but are known to the Leaders of
the local groups.

I guess that if you don't get much response from here you could contact HQ
to get a local contact for Dorset or if you know the District which it is
located.

It's also on Scoutbase, here:

Plus English Nature have something about it being considered for SSSI
status - their website's broken right now - but some details are here:

Sounds as though there could be the potential for doing some
conservation work there.

Overall, sounds like a really nice site.

All the best.

I'm a scout leader with a scout group in Dorset and we camp there all the time! As it happens I just got back from a camp there today (which is why I searched this and came across your post), it's on the grounds of lulworth castle. Recently we has three new huts built there, and finally a fully working toilet hut so it's more welcoming for more parents when we do family camp. In addition to a post on here, the site is being considered to become a SSSI, unfortunately if this happens then no camping at all will be allowed there. If you want to hear anymore don't hesitate to reply!
