Does anyone have one? Any thoughts, good or bad?

Here's a link to one I've been looking at, but wondered others have got (if
at all)?

Thanks!

Looks like a revamp of the Electrolux 3-way. If so then it should be
reliable when set level (pallet off the wood pile) & out of draughts that
could blow out the gas jet. Good on mains too but not so good on 12V -
current draw can flatten a 100Ah battery in under a day; 12V is more for
when there's a split charge relay on a vehicle so that the fridge can be
powered when the engine is running.

Have a good look at the lid hinge pivots - they might not cope with a Scout
deciding to sit on it ... our old Electrolux 3-way still works fine though
with the lid loose after umpteen camps long enough to have to chill what's
on the menu.

Tips:

1. Get a fridge thermometer so that you will know if the temperature creeps
above 5C. Dial type for around GBP5 better than liquid in glass type.

2. Chill the fridge down on mains the day before a camp then fill it just
before you go; include some freezer gel packs with frozen stuff & put non-
frozen in last. Frozen stuff then should stay frozen for about half a day.

Can't stress that enough - get one of those small round spirit levels
and stick it on the top, that worked for me.

My Group has two Electrolux 3-way chest freezers. Yes,
freezers. They're so efficient running on butane gas that they
will freeze sausages and milk in a couple of hours.

Gas Freezers would be my ideal, but from a quick Google, they are around
£500! Ouch! Currently we freeze food down before we go and it'll last a
good few days in a cooler box. Bacon in particular will still be solid on
Monday morning, having been out of a proper freezer since Saturday am!

Was thinking that with a gas powered cool box it would keep even longer :o)

We use two with our group, an older electrolux version and we
purchased a newer one from gooutdoors last September, they are really
good at keeping things cold on camp as the other poster said it is
better when used on mains for 24 hours prior to camp, always keep
level - ours will not cool if it's on more than a 2 degree incline.
Tips for storage, try to keep upside down/ turn upside down for a few
days prior to camp can help if it doesn't seem to be cooling well.
In terms of gas usage, it obviously uses more in hotter weather but
we're still on the same cylinder after 3 week camps and a couple of
weekends. So it is very cost effective!

I would say go get one, you would be glad you did!

Got the very same. A useful addition to camp hardware. Runs on propane
or butane.

Just to follow this up ... we purchased a Dometic Combicool RC 2200 before
camp this year ... and very well worth it is was too!

Chilled it down before we went using mains, ran it from the 12v in my car on
the way to the site, then on gas during the week. It stayed at or below 0
deg C all week - not cold enough to freeze cool blocks, but cold enough to
stop things defrosting (all the food was frozen before it was put in the
box). OK, so it wasn't particularly hot most of last week where we were,
but that meant we had it turned down on the lowest gas setting most of the
time - used about a third of a 907 I'd guess. Sat it on a table in our
marquee, it was level from back to front, but not side to side, but that
didn't seem to cause us any problems. Switched it off Thursday afternoon,
but it was still cold enough inside on Saturday morning to chill liquids.

Definitely recommended :o)
