Just come back from seeing Peterborough's Gang Show.
Good fun and well performed. Of course at my great age I'm bound to say
that Gang Shows ... aint wot they were when oi was a lad! But then a lot
of Ralph's material was very much of its time and perhaps wouldn't sit
too well these days. Cast members (like policemen) get incredibly
younger each year (apart from one or two where their bus passes were
showing ;^)
eheu! fugaces labunter anni...
Still, nice to see a bit of our tradition still going strong.
I started as an indian in 'Boy Scout' in 1948; my Group was heavily
involved with Ralph, most of us were in BS and the London Gang Show
either as performers or crew - great times.

I've volunteered to work front of house on Thursday and Friday in
Cardiff. Never seen/heard a Gang Show before.

You're lucky Marc, along with all the others wearing white hair I'm
deemed too old to be on display to the public :-(

I'm worried they will have me walking up and down selling ice creams
But not hald as worried as the DC when I suggested wearing a basque,

Great idea Marc ... sounds like pure old fashioned Gang Show to me. Our
Rover Crew Leader (Jack Beet) used to take most of the 'dame' parts in
the Holborn GS (and I confess to having sported a tutu as a vicar in
'Spring'). No lasting harm - my CRB clearance still comes thro' okay ;^)

My role was limited to selling programs, but I made the most of my role
and on the two nights I was there sold the most programmes. I'm a great
believer in age and treachery always beating youth and exuberance, and
so it was. I held my programmes in the air, button holed anyone with an
open purse and sold "The last remaining program" 10 times. I even went
outside the theatre and sold one to a passerby

I think I've rediscovered my love of Scouting! :-)

In two years time I will be buying tickets to see the show , all the way
through.

Yep, and had to go to the Doctor tonight because his shin had gone all manky
after falling over a tree in the dark during a wide game, being a pratt
didn't clean it up and dress it!

Its like BG said there is no point dieing with a perfect corpse. :-)

It's just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right.
Put your hands on your hips and bring your knees in tight.
But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane.
Let's do the time-warp again!!
