A fairly amazing result last night. Family Camps, Hallowe'en parties
etc resulted in over 70 adults and kids at our AGM. I nominated 4
parents to Gp Exec, we had 3 elected from the floor, and we got a new
Chairman.
And a proper constitution with all the relevant resolutions duly
resolved

We had a bonfire outside afterwards and got 3 parents there
volunteering for our new fundraising committee, and a builder/parent
getting us a quote for our long planned toilets for the disabled.

And 2 CS Gold Awards into the bargain.

I am really convinced that this is due to every leader going out of
their way to engage parents and to the group runing activites to
involve them.

Will have to watch out; I'll be an optimist if I'm not careful....

Fantastic, What was the magic touch that got 70 parents to turn up?

Three things: one was genuinely that we'd involved them, got to chat
to them at various "do"s and told them we were making some changes and
we needed a 50 % turn out. Another was we'd told them there would be
badges and awards for some of the kids (which we'd kept back for a
couple of weeks). The third was a bonfire, for which cubs and beavers
had made guys.

So, you did what we do, you get 70% I get two parents...

From the title I would assume free beer.

This is exactly the sort of thing I did for years and as you can see,
it pays off.

Brilliant. Well Done.
